This Dauphin Island print is one of my favorites illustration wise. It is 12” x 18”" standard size. I created each illustration individually in pen/ ink and watercolor. I then put it together in photoshop layers. This was the second map in my Alabama series. This map is a Giclee print. It costs a bit more to produce and is fantastic color quality. This ships in a heavy mailer tube 22" x 3" wrapped in tissue.
Dauphin Island is unique to the world. If you are reading this you have probably been there and know what I mean. This island has endured many severe hurricanes. But it always survives. It changes from time to time but it keeps on keeping on. This island has so much history! The Indians favored it way back in the Mississippian period as a stop over to the delta. There are giant mounds of discarded oyster shells...Indian Shell Mound Park. I tried to illustrate a little picture of Indians eating oysters with the dug out near by.
If you know anyone that fished the famous Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, or raced in the Dauphin Island (sailboat) Race/regatta....they would love this. Or a student maybe that did some time with the Dauphin Island Sea Laboratory or a bird enthusiast that went there to watch the amazing migratory birds at the Audubon Bird Sanctuary....or a couple that married on the amazing beaches...I could keep going. It is special and due to my fortunate association with some old salts from the area I include things that more authentic than many may recognize.
